Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine, sterile single-use needles into specific anatomical points on the body. Acupuncture is understood to stimulate nerves, muscles, and connective tissue to assist with reducing inflammation, improving circulation and may influence the body’s natural painkillers. Acupuncture may support general wellbeing and may be used by people experiencing symptoms such as pain, stress, sleep disturbances, or digestive discomfort. Acupuncture needles are sometimes applied to points on the body seemingly unrelated to the pain area, like on the hands or feet for a neck pain issue. This application reflects the TCM diagnosis addressing the root cause of the condition and treating the body holistically rather than just the local symptoms. All treatments are tailored to the individual and results may vary.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

The ancient art of facial rejuvenation is a non-invasive, non-surgical approach, using very fine, sterile, single use needles to encourage better circulation, stimulate blood flow, support skin appearance, tone, and overall vitality. Embracing the holistic approach of Chinese medicine, your session addresses constitutional concerns as well as aesthetic. Shontelle has completed post-graduate education in Cosmetic Acupuncture.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping uses gentle suction applied with glass or silicone cups to create lift within the tissues. This helps encourage local circulation, reduce muscular tension, and support the release of tight or restricted areas. On the body, cupping may leave temporary circular marks, which are a normal response and usually resolve within a few days. On the face, lighter techniques are used to support lymphatic flow and reduce fluid retention.

Ear Seeds

Ear seeds are small, latex-free Vaccaria seeds applied to specific points on the ear to provide ongoing gentle stimulation between treatments. They are designed to remain in place for 3–5 days. Light pressure can be applied periodically to the seeds to continue stimulating the points as advised during your session. Ear seeds may be used as a supportive adjunct to your treatment plan, depending on your individual presentation.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture involves the application of a gentle, controlled electrical current to acupuncture needles once they have been inserted. This provides a consistent level of stimulation to selected points and may assist with influencing nerves, muscles, and connective tissue. It is often used to enhance the effects of manual acupuncture, particularly in areas of muscular tension or reduced function. The intensity is carefully adjusted to ensure comfort throughout treatment. Where appropriate, a stand-alone electro-acupuncture pen may be used as an alternative for those who prefer a needle-free approach.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a traditional manual therapy using a smooth-edged tool to apply controlled strokes along specific areas of the body or face. It is used to help release muscular tension, support local circulation, and improve soft tissue mobility. Facial gua sha uses lighter pressure and is often included to assist lymphatic drainage and reduce puffiness. Temporary redness may occur and typically settles shortly after treatment.

Reflexology

An ancient art which has been used to help restore equilibrium in the body for more than 3000 years. Specific points located on the feet, hands, face, and ears reflect all the internal body. These points are stimulated by using alternating pressure and advanced techniques to enhance circulation, energy levels, clear blockages throughout the body and encourage your own natural healing abilities. Shontelle is a diploma qualified Clinical Reflexologist and has completed several advanced training courses in reflexology over many years to ensure your sessions can be customised for your needs. ZSA combines Chinese medicine theories and Western medicine neuroscience with the aim of influencing different areas of the body, by utilising a microsystem on the scalp. While needles are inserted the integration of ’Dao Yin’ exercises assist with the movement of Qi in the body. Shontelle is a certified ZSA practitioner, in both the Foundations and Stroke & Brain injury courses, trained by direct disciples of Dr Zhu.

Tui Na (Chinese Remedial Massage)

Tui Na is a traditional Chinese manual therapy performed over towels without the use of oils. It involves a range of rhythmic and targeted techniques applied along acupuncture channels and muscle groups. This style of treatment may assist with circulation, mobility, and the release of muscular tension, and is tailored to your individual presentation and diagnosis. Tui Na may be incorporated into your session as a preparatory or complementary technique before or after acupuncture, depending on your treatment plan.
